Achim, 17 October 2019. Just four months after the groundbreaking ceremony, the shell of the new “Factory of the Future” has been completed. DESMA Schuhmaschinen GmbH, the world’s leading manufacturer of machinery and plant for the footwear industry, is building a new production and office complex that is designed to reflect modern workflow principles on the company premises in Desmastrasse in Achim.
Building officially began on 6 June 2019 and since then, more than 50 construction workers from all different trades have done an excellent job. “Everything is going exactly according to plan, in terms of both time and costs,” said DESMA Managing Director Klaus Freese and added: “We will start to tackle the interior work over the next few months and plan to move into the new building in late summer 2020.”
The “Factory of the Future” consists of a combined production and office complex, with a 12,000-square-metre production building as well as a three-storey office and staff building with a floor area of 4500 square metres. The new building will strengthen DESMA’s position in the global market and safeguard 250 jobs in Achim. The “Factory of the Future” is intended to optimise workflows, make our processes more effective and productive and simultaneously improve working conditions for our staff.
